Bhubaneswar: After a prolonged spell of heavy downpour, thunderstorm activity is likely to occur in several parts of Odisha over the next two days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday.
While light to moderate rain is likely to occur in different parts of the state during next one week, the IMD has issued a yellow warning of thunderstorms and gusty wind activity in several districts over the next two days.
In a weather bulletin, it said thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind with speed up to 30-40 kmph may occur at some places over the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Sundargada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj till 8.30 am Tuesday – September 29.
Similarly, for September 29-30, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind with speed up to 30-40 kmph is likely to occur in some places over the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj.
The IMD has advised people to remain cautious and take necessary precautions during the thunderstorm activity.
