New Delhi: Commercial LPG and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices were increased from October 1, ahead of the festive season, adding to operating costs for businesses and airlines. However, the latest revision left household cooking gas prices unchanged.
The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has been raised by Rs 62.50 to Rs 2,810. It was previously available for Rs 2,747.50, according to state-owned oil marketing companies.
The increase represents a rise of nearly 2.3 per cent. The price of a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder remains unchanged at Rs 942 in Delhi. The latest commercial LPG revision, therefore, does not directly affect households using cooking gas.
ATF Price Rises For Third Month
Airlines will also have to pay more for aviation turbine fuel, with ATF prices rising by Rs 16 per litre to Rs 137 for domestic carriers. The rate was Rs 121 per litre in September.
The latest increase follows a rise of Rs 6.28 per litre, or 5.46 per cent, in September. ATF prices had also gone up by Rs 5 per litre in August, as reported by The Economic Times.
Jet fuel is one of the biggest expenses for airlines and can account for as much as 40 per cent of their operating costs. A sustained increase in ATF prices can therefore put pressure on carriers’ finances and ticket pricing.
Export Levies On Diesel, ATF Cut
The Centre has lowered the additional levy on diesel and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) exports, according to a Finance Ministry notification issued on Wednesday.
The tax on diesel exports has been cut to Rs 16 per litre from Rs 20. The levy on ATF exports has been lowered to Rs 10.50 per litre from Rs 15.
The tax on petrol exports remains unchanged at Rs 0.50 per litre.
The export duties were last revised on September 16. The diesel levy was then reduced to Rs 20 per litre from Rs 25, while the ATF duty was cut to Rs 15 per litre from Rs 19.
