Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty wind is likely to hit several parts of Odisha over the next two days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday.
While light to moderate rain is likely to occur in many parts of the state over the next one week, the weather agency has issued a yellow warning of thunderstorm for several districts during the coming two days.
In its midday weather bulletin, the IMD has issued a yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph over the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghapur and Mayurbhanj during the next 24 hours.
On October 2-3, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind is likely to occur in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada districts, where a yellow warning has been sounded.
People have been advised to remain alert during thunderstorm activity and stay at safe places.
