Sundaragada: Panic gripped a bustling commercial pocket of Odisha’s Sundargarh after a fire broke out at the main branch of Punjab National Bank (PNB) on Monday morning.
The incident occurred around 8 am shortly after opening hours at the branch premises, located opposite the Head Post Office and near the Town Police Station. Alerted by local residents, fire tenders rushed to the scene to extinguish the blaze. Police personnel cordoned off and closed the adjacent thoroughfare while managing crowd control as thick smoke and flames engulfed the building.
Although bank furniture and crucial official documents were severely damaged in the inferno, no casualties or injuries were reported among staff or customers. While a short circuit is suspected to be the primary trigger, details about the cause of the incident and the extent of the loss are awaited.
