Bhubaneswar: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) observed National Nutrition Month at its operational locations across Odisha as part of its commitment to the health and well-being of the community.
Under its CSR flagship Project ‘Aarogya’, an awareness session was organised at Nuagarh Gram Panchayat office and Chakradharpur Anganwadi in Paradeep, to promote nutritional awareness, especially among women and adolescent girls.
More than 200 persons, including Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANM) staff, adolescent girls and women of the nearby villages, attended the programme.
Debendra Rout, Sarpanch, Nuagarh and Dr Rajesh Mishra, Chief Medical Officer, AM/NS India Odisha, graced the event.
Dr Mishra emphasised the importance of consuming a balanced diet enriched with essential nutrients for overall health, growth, and well-being.
A similar awareness session was organised at the Anganwadi Centres in Kalmang and Sagasahi villages, attended by more than 100 local women, children, school teachers and grassroots health workers.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Anil Mahto, Medical Officer, CSR Dispensary, AM/NS India, Kalmang and Dr Srikant Rath, Doctor, Mobile Medical Unit, AM/NS India, spoke about the importance of balanced nutrition and healthy dietary habits.
In Thakurani mine area, National Nutrition Month was celebrated at Munda Shahi Anganwadi Centre in Dalki village, with the focus on promoting healthy eating practices and raising awareness on the importance of nutrition for community well-being.
Dr Subrat Dhal, Medical Officer, CSR Dispensary, AM/NS India, Dalki addressed the gathering, encouraging households to develop backyard kitchen gardens to ensure access to fresh and nutritious food.
