Mumbai: Odisha has attracted investment proposals worth Rs 53,893.51 crore during India Chem 2026 here, with the potential to generate 20,210 employment opportunities.

The delegation, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, helped Odisha strengthened its position as an investment destination at the two-day event that concluded on Friday.

The state government signed nine MoUs worth Rs 51,443.51 crore, with an employment potential of 17,560, and received four Investment Intents worth Rs 2,450 crore with the potential to generate 2,650 employment opportunities.

The largest investment commitment during the outreach was NLC India Ltd, which signed MoUs worth Rs 36,763.51 crore in the Chemical and Power sectors, according to a state government release.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) signed an MoU for a proposed investment of Rs 8,100 crore, with an estimated employment potential of 1,300.

CM holds discussions with POSCO, JSW

On Friday, Chief Minister Majhi held discussions with POSCO India head S L Chun, POSCO’s Mumbai office MD Jacy Kim and JSW Chairman Sajjan Jindal to explore industrial investment opportunities in Odisha.

Majhi also held a meeting with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Chairman and Managing Director S N Subrahmanyan, along with L&T Group CEOs and members of its leadership team. The interaction culminated in an MoU with L&T for a proposed investment of Rs 8,100 crore.

Recognising L&T’s contribution to India’s heavy engineering and infrastructure sectors and its established presence at Kansbahal in Odisha, Majhi invited the company to expand its manufacturing footprint and explore new investment opportunities across the state.

“Odisha is ready to be a major growth partner for L&T in eastern India. We invite L&T to expand its manufacturing footprint, explore new opportunities in chemicals and petrochemicals, and strengthen its presence in engineering and technology. Our vision is to build an integrated industrial ecosystem where large industries, MSMEs and skilled youth grow together. The state government will extend the necessary support to translate investment proposals into projects on the ground. Together, we can create new opportunities, strengthen industrial capabilities and contribute to Samruddh Odisha 2036,” said the Chief Minister.

Odisha to host event next year

Majhi, who returned to Bhubaneswar on Friday night, announced that Odisha will host the event next year, after discussions with the Centre and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) which agreed to the proposal.

During the Mumbai visit, Majhi held 25 one-on-one meetings with business leaders and representatives of companies, including POSCO India, JSW, L&T, and firms based in the US and the European Union.

The Odisha CM thanked Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister JP Nadda for his support in facilitating discussions with companies.
