Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday extended a warm welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is scheduled to arrive in Bhubaneswar this afternoon to inaugurate the Reserve Bank of India’s greenfield data centre and Enterprise Computing & Cybersecurity Training Institute, Chaitanya, at Info Valley-II near Jatni in Khordha district.
The CM, in a post on X, said that Odisha’s development journey has reached a new peak under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister. He further stated that the coordinated efforts of the central and state governments have opened up many new possibilities for the state.
“A heartfelt welcome to our Prime Minister as he returns to the sacred soil of Odisha! His visit brings fresh momentum to our developmental journey, driving us closer to our shared vision of a thriving state and a stronger, developed India.”
Majhi added that the visit would reinforce the commitment to building a Samruddha Odisha and a Viksit Bharat.
Sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik also extends a welcome to PM Modi with a striking eight-foot sand sculpture at Puri beach. Intricately blending the iconic Konark Wheel with a replica of the RBI Data Centre, the installation beautifully honors the state’s rich cultural heritage alongside its modern technological strides..
The facility, built at a cost of around Rs 170 crore across 18.55 acres, will serve as a critical secondary backup to RBI’s primary data centre in Navi Mumbai. It is designed to strengthen data management, disaster recovery, cybersecurity and business continuity for core functions such as currency management, payment and settlement systems, and regulatory operations. The complex has received Uptime Institute Tier IV certification, placing it among the highest standards of operational resilience and among the largest such facilities in the banking, financial services and insurance sector worldwide. The campus also houses the training institute aimed at research, capacity building and skill development in enterprise computing and cybersecurity.
In a related message, the CM described the facility as another milestone in Odisha’s development journey that would strengthen financial data security, digital infrastructure and banking research, noting that its success would be measured not only by the inauguration but by its long-term impact on digital infrastructure, financial data security and public welfare.
The foundation stone was laid by then RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das on March 22, 2023. The site was chosen for its geographical stability, away from seismically sensitive zones and high-risk border areas, reducing vulnerability to natural disasters and geopolitical risks.
According to the tentative itinerary shared by the chief secretary’s office, Modi is expected to arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar around 4.30 pm aboard a special Indian Air Force aircraft. He will travel by helicopter to the Khurda helipad before proceeding by road to the RBI facility for the inauguration. He is likely to spend about an hour at the campus, address the gathering, and return to the airport by road before departing Odisha around 6.30 pm.
This marks the Prime Minister’s ninth visit to the state since the BJP government was formed in Odisha in 2024.
The state administration has made elaborate security and traffic arrangements. Police have issued a traffic advisory regulating vehicle movement between 5.40 pm and 6.40 pm along the specific route connecting the RBI Data Centre to Biju Patnaik International Airport, with around 70 platoons of security personnel deployed in Bhubaneswar.
