Mumbai: Janhvi Kapoor and Shikhar Pahariya have been linked for several years, though neither has publicly confirmed their relationship.
In an upcoming episode of ‘Koffee With Karan 9’, Janhvi reportedly opens up about Shikhar’s support following the death of her mother, Sridevi, in 2018.
Karan is said to recall how Shikhar remained by the actress’s side during the difficult period, despite the two not being officially together at the time.
During the conversation, Karan asks Janhvi whether she always knew Shikhar was her “endgame”.
In response, the actress recalls how he put his studies in London on hold and moved to Juhu to be there for her after the loss.
Janhvi says, “I think he was studying in London, he took like half a semester off. He came to Bombay and he used to stay in town with his dad then, and he moved to his, which I only found out much later, he moved to his friend’s house in Juhu for like a month. Not that I was seeing him every day or anything like that, but later on I just found out that he was like, no, in case she needs me, I just want to be around.”
Veteran actor Sridevi died on February 24, 2018, aged 54, in Dubai, where she had attended a family wedding. Her sudden death sent shockwaves through the film industry.
While initial reports cited cardiac arrest, authorities later confirmed that she died due to accidental drowning in her hotel bathtub.
Her body was brought to Mumbai on February 27, and her funeral was held the following day, drawing thousands of mourners and several film industry personalities.
Janhvi hinted at her bond with Shikhar on Koffee With Karan 8 in 2023, naming him by his nickname, “Shiku”, among the three people on her speed dial.
In April 2024, she wore a necklace bearing his name at the screening of Maidaan.
A month later, she revealed that Shikhar had been part of her life since she was 15 or 16, describing them as each other’s support system.
Her father, Boney Kapoor, has also expressed affection for Shikhar.
However, Boney denied reports in May 2024 that the two were planning to marry in 2026.
