Bhubaneswar: An Accountant-cum-Data Entry Operator (ADEO) posted at Khatakhatia Gram Panchayat under Kantamal block in Odisha’s Boudh district was suspended on Tuesday for alleged irregularities in implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
The ADEO, identified as Saroj Kumar Mahakud, has been accused of negligence in government duties, financial irregularities under the rural housing scheme, and attempting to facilitate the withdrawal of the second instalment of housing assistance by uploading photographs of an old house belonging to a beneficiary named Yajnaseni Banka.
He allegely uploaded the manipulated images to falsely indicate progress in house construction and enable the release of the subsequent instalment of funds.
Boudh District Collector Bibhuti Bhusan Nayak took note of the alleged misconduct and ordered the suspension. As per the Collector’s directive, Mahakud has to report daily at Kantamal Tehsil office throughout the suspension period and is prohibited from leaving the area without prior permission. Further departmental proceedings are expected in the matter.
