Bhubaneswar: Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri is likely to introduce a queue-based darshan system for devotees visiting the shrine before the New Year.
Sharing this information on Friday, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan said the proposed ‘dhadi darshan’ system is set to be launched after the holy month of Kartik and before the New Year.
Stating that preparations for introducing the new system have reached their final stage, the Minister said that devotees would be able to have darshan through eight ramps simultaneously.
He said the much-awaited arrangement will facilitate darshan for around 10,000 devotees every hou. The queue system will be introduced in the stretch between the Garuda Stambha and the Bahara Katha.
The arrangement would have a mechanism similar to a collapsible bridge. The ramps will be opened to facilitate darshan and closed after the conclusion of darshan.
The system has been developed with technical assistance from IIT Bhubaneswar.
Before its formal launch, the Chhatisha Nijog and the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee will inspect the arrangement shortly. The new system will be implemented after their inspection and approval, Harichandan said.
