Balasore: A student allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at Basta in Balasore after he flunked the annual matric examination, the results of which were declared on Tuesday.
The deceased student has been identified as Sankarsan Sethi. He belongs to Pundarungi village under Basta block of the district. He was studying in Gandhiji High School at Mandurukula in Sadar area.

His family rushed him to Basta community health centre, but the doctors there declared him dead, sources said.
