Nayagarh: An eight-year-old tusker was found dead in a forest in Pancharida area here with its tusks missing on Tuesday.
According to sources, some locals spotted the carcass and informed the forest officials.
On being informed, the forest department officials rushed to the spot and started investigation.
Though the exact cause behind the death is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the elephant might have been killed by poachers.
