Bhubaneswar: Ten days after the shocking incident in which a youth was allegedly found molesting a minor girl at Laxmisagar here, the Commissionerate Police on Friday claimed to have identified the accused.
Informing the media here, Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi said the accused has been identified and he will soon be arrested.
Though the police commissioner refused to divulge details about the accused, reliable sources said that he belongs to Saheed Nagar and its nearby areas.
The incident was captured on a CCTV camera at Laxmisagar on August 21. In the footage, the accused was seen following the girl while she was going for tuition classes on a bicycle. He later accosted the victim to a lonely lane at Sabar Sahi and molested her. However, he fled the area after the girl raised an alarm.
The girl’s family had lodged a police complaint the same day.
