AAP MLAs Get HC Relief, ‘Victory Of Truth’ Tweets Kejriwal
New Delhi: In a relief to the Aam Aadmi Party, the Delhi High Court, on Friday, set aside the Centre’s notification that disqualified 20 AAP MLAs in office of profit case.
“It is a victory of truth. The elected representatives were wrongfully disqualified. The high court has given justice to the people of Delhi. It is their victory. Congratulations to the people of Delhi,” Delhi Chief
Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, after the verdict.
A bench of justices Sanjiv Khanna and Chander Shekhar said that the notification disqualifying the MLAs was bad in law and remanded their plea back to the EC which will hear it afresh.
The bench comprising of Sanjiv Khanna and Chander Shekhar cancelled the Election Commission notification disqualifying the MLAs.
While Election Commission had stated that the 20 AAP MLAs illegally held government posts, AAP, in return, had cited bias and said the MLAs were not given a chance to explain.
