AAP Shreds Tihar Jail Report, Claims Arvind Kejriwal May Slip Into Coma

New Delhi: Even as Tihar prison authorities said Arvind Kejriwal was doing fine and his vitals were normal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) disagreed and claimed that they had committed a crime by releasing the medical report of another inmate.

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh alleged that the Delhi chief minister has lost 8.5 kg of weight and his blood sugar level dropped below 50 mg/dL five times following his arrest.

“A team of AIIMS doctors has been examining Arvind Kejriwal’s health, and they have found out that Kejriwal is losing weight fast and is suffering from hypoglycemia. His blood sugar level dropped below 50 mg/dL five times, which could have caused him to slip into a coma or even resulted in his death,” Singh claimed.

“The day he (Kejriwal) was arrested, his weight was 70 kg, which has now come down to 61.5 kg. I urge PM Modi not to play with Kejriwal’s life because if something untoward happens, it will be difficult for the Centre to find an answer,” Singh added.

He also said that making the medical report of any patient public is an offence.

“Several times the jail administration has made the medical report of the chief minister of Delhi public. This proves that a conspiracy is being hatched to play with the life of Arvind Kejriwal… Action should be taken on this,” Singh told ANI.

Tihar Jail authorities earlier rejected AAP’s allegations regarding Kejriwal’s health condition.

According to the Superintendent of Central jail No. 2, Kejriwal has been following a medically-prescribed diet, including home-cooked food, as per the court’’s orders.

“Despite a slight weight loss, his vitals remain normal, and he receives appropriate medical care for all his ailments,” jail authorities said in a statement.

Kejriwal, who was arrested on March 21 in connection with a money-laundering case linked to the now-scrapped Delhi liquor policy, was granted interim bail in May for the Lok Sabha elections before surrendering at Tihar jail on June 2.

Last week, the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Kejriwal and referred his petition challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to a larger bench.

But he could not walk of jail as he was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a separate case, whose hearing is on July 18.
