Keonjhar: Police on Sunday rescued a minor girl of Chhattisgarh from a village in Telkoi block of Odisha’s Keonjhar district.
According to sources, some people of Janasanpur village found a man thrashing a minor girl inside the forest near the village in the morning and informed the police.
Following information, a team of police of Telkoi police station rushed to the spot and rescued the minor girl and arrested the driver.
Informing the media later, the police said that as per the complaint of the minor girl, the accused, a driver of Uttar Pradesh, had abducted her from Chhattisgarh and later raped her at several places.
Police further said the accused belongs to Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh and works as a driver of a transport company in Raipur. During his stay at Raipur, he had a friendship with another driver. Later he used to visit his house. However, taking the absence of his friend, the accused abducted his sister on November 8 and fled to Odisha where he took her to different places and raped. He used to beat up the minor girl as she resisted.
The accused driver will be forwarded to the court later in the day after interrogation, police said.
The minor girl was later taken to the child care unit in Keonjhar by the Childline officials.
