Cuttack: Even as the state government is making all possible arrangements for smooth return of Odia migrants from other states, some loopholes continue to bother the returnees. In such cases, some volunteers have come forward to lend their helping hands. Abinash Khemka of Cuttack is one of them.
Abinash has been distributing cooked food packets and water pouches to the migrants coming from Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu at Bandanu on national highway 16. The much needed relief materials are provided to around 3,000 bus passengers every day. He has been doing it from his resources with most parts coming from own pocket.
Besides, he has been making arrangements for sending the migrants, who are coming on foot or cycle, in buses and trucks. One such case is pregnant Fatima who was going to West Bengal along with her family in a trailer.
Considering the condition of Fatima, Abinash sent her and her two children along with husband in his own car.
Abinash, who is trying to help as many people as possible, is supported by his friends and school students of the area.
