Deogarh: An Odisha Taxation and Accounts Service (OTAS) Officer was apprehended by Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday for allegedly accepting Rs 6,000 bribe from a man to process release of pending bill for construction of anganwadi centre in Deogarh district.
The accused was identified as Rajendra Dash, Accounts Officer at Reamal Block of Deogarh district. He belongs to OTAS.
Dash was apprehended by Vigilance officials while demanding and accepting Rs 6,000 from complainant for processing release of pending bill in connection with construction of an anganwadi centre, a Vigilance release said.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from the exclusive possession ofi Dash and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Dash in Deogarh and Sambalpur districts from Disproportionate Assets angle.
A case has been registered and investigation is in progress against the accused.
