Accused Granted Bail In Jajpur PEO Death Case

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court has granted bail to Rupesh Bhadra in connection with the mysterious death of Smitarani Biswal, the Panchayat Extension Officer (PEO) of Haridaspur of Dharmasala block in Odisha’s Jajpur district.

The husband of Haridaspur sarpanch, Rupesh was arrested in October 2019.

While granting the bail, Justice Bibhu Prasad Routray directed the lower court to set conditions for Rupesh and asked him not try to influence the witnesses.

Notably, Smitarani was found hanging from the ceiling of the toilet at Rupesh’s guesthouse, which has now been demolished, on October 16. Three days later, police arrested him for abetment of suicide.
