Bhubaneswar: Ace Odisha sprinter Amiya Kumar Mallick is all set to begin a new chapter in his life as he prepares to tie the knot in Mumbai.
According to reports, the former national record holder will be united in marriage with sports physiotherapist Shweta Venkat Attilli on November 22. The wedding will take place in Mumbai, where Shweta’s family resides.
Shweta is currently serving as the lead physiotherapist at the Sports Science Centre on Kalinga Stadium premises in Bhubaneswar, established in partnership with Abhinav Bindra, India’s first individual Olympic gold medallist.
Reports further stated that the duo met for the first time during Amiya’s training sessions at the stadium and their friendship gradually evolved into a relationship.
Mallick’s personal best of 10.26s, clocked at the Federation Cup in Delhi in 2016, stood as the national record for six years before Amlan Borgohain bettered the time by one-hundredth of a second in 2022.
In August, Odisha men’s 4x100m team, featuring Amiya, Animesh Kujur, Lalu Prasad Bhoi and Sarun Payasingh, clinched gold medal with new Meet Record (MR) of 39.52 seconds at 64th National Inter State Senior Athletics Championship at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai.
He recently wrapped up the domestic season with a bronze medal in the 4x100m relay at the 64th National Open Athletics Championships 2025 in Ranchi. While sharing a post on the win on September 30, Mallick also thanked Shweta for keeping his “body strong and injury-free”.
