Bhubaneswar: Japan’s prestigious Koyasan University conferred an honorary doctorate on KIIT & KSS Founder Dr Achyuta Samanta during his visit to the campus on July 24.
Dr Samanta is only the second Indian to be bestowed this prestigious doctorate by the more than 100-year-old Koyasan University.
The previous recipient was Devendra Fadnavis, during his first term as chief minister of Maharashtra (2014-2019).
Koyasan University President Soeda Ryusho presented the prestigious Degree in the presence of Nikhilesh Giri, Consul General of India, Osaka-Kobe, and other university dignitaries.
This is Dr Samanta’s 58th Honorary Doctorate award.
“This is such a prestigious university whose history goes back more than 100 years. They have awarded it to me in recognition of my education and social services work,” Dr Samanta said in his acceptance speech.
