Bhubaneswar: A day after the suspension of Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda from the primary membership of the party, the BJD on Thursday said the decision was not taken in haste rather on the basis of the report submitted by the two district party observers.
In a statement to the media, BJD spokesperson Debasis Samantray said there are other reasons.
“The fact remains that Baijayant had repeatedly mentioned in the social media that the ‘third floor’ was conspiring against him. The ‘third floor’ is not the political office of the BJD. The Chief Minister had specifically told Panda to apprise him in person about any complaint. But the latter instead of meeting him in person replied in the social media,” he pointed out.
Asked about the consequences on his party after suspending Panda, Samantray said the suspension will have no effect on the BJD which will be strengthened further.
“Panda was used to giving adverse statement against the party and its leaders in the social media which had given an opportunity to the Opposition to criticise the government. The suspension will have no effect on our party supremo as he enjoys public support,” he added.
