Mumbai: Actor Irrfan Khan has breathed his last. The 54-year-old actor was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday for colon infection and was in the intensive care unit (ICU).
He was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour in 2018 and had been undergoing treatment for for the same since then.
One of the most versatile actors in the Hindi cinema, Irrfan did not promote his latest film ‘Angrezi Medium’, which was released on Disney+Hotstar due to the coronavirus lockdown, because of his health condition. He was reportedly undergoing treatment while the film was shot in the UK.
The actor had returned to India in September last year after surgery and treatment in London.
The Maqbool star also could not attend his mother’s funeral in Jaipur because of the lockdown and his health condition on April 25, according to media reports.
Irrfan is survived by his wife Sutapa and two sons
