Actor & Sketch Artist Rio Kapadia Loses Long Battle Against Cancer

Mumbai: Actor and sketch artist Rio Kapadia passed away on Thursday after a long battle with cancer.

The actor is survived by his wife Maria Farah, and two children Aman and Veer.

Rio, who was 66, was last seen in the popular web series ‘Made in Heaven Season 2’ on Amazon Prime Video. He played Mrunal Thakur’s father.

His last rites will be performed on Friday in Mumbai’s Goregaon on Friday.

Movie buffs remember Rio for his performance in movies like ‘Chak De! India’ — where he essayed the role of a commentator – ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, ‘Happy New Year’ and ‘Mardaani’.

Rio was also a popular face on television, having featured in soaps like ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’, ‘Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke’, ‘Kutumb’ and ‘Judwa Raja’.

Rio’s sketches were highly appreciated as well.

Among sketches his drew and shared on social media were those of late Dilip Kumar, late Rishi Kapoor, late Sridevi, Amitabh Bachchan, Naseeruddin Shah, Jaya Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit.
