Bhubaneswar: Veteran actress and BJP MP Kirron Kher was heavily trolled on social media after her Tuesday evening post, announcing that she had ‘donated’ a sum of Rs 1 crore from Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) for the purchase of ventilators for COVID-19 patients by the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh.
With hope and prayers in my heart, I am donating Rs. 1 crore from MPLADS to the PGI Chandigarh towards the immediate purchase of ventilators for COVID-19 patients. I stand solidly with #MyCity #MyChandigarh #MyPeople @MoHFW_INDIA @BJP4India pic.twitter.com/HXVk0Y8zDH

The Twitterati tore her apart for using the word “donate” while allocating funds from MPLADS. A few reminded her about the Union Cabinet’s April 2020 decision to suspend MPLADS for 2020-21 and 2021-22 and utilise the amount to manage the COVID-19 outbreak in the country.
Check out the reactions here:
First of all, MPLADs Fund is a taxpayer’s money, you can’t donate this money but whatever you did is called “allocation”, this funds is not your personal money so don’t be a fooled and don’t make others.

“Allocate” not “donate”. If and when you spend money from your own riches, then you call it as “donate”, not when you are giving taxpayers’ money of MPLADS back to them.

Aren’t MPLADS funds suspended at present and therefore unavailable for you to ‘donate’ instead of allocate? A matching personal donation for this very worthy cause would be greatly appreciated.

@AzmiShabana Don’t fall for this please. MPLaDS was frozen for 2 years by the PM. Kiron should honour this commitment from her own funds or get some other sponsor

Why not Donate some from personal account? That will earn more wishes and blessings. दूसरे के पैसे का दान , दान नहीं होता और उसका पुण्य भी नहीं मिलता ।

Kirron has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, and currently undergoing treatment in Mumbai.
“Kirron is improving. She is better but the medicines for multiple myeloma have many side effects. She is in good spirits and hopefully, she will come out of it. If your prayers are with her, everything will be fine,” actor Anupam Kher had told fans during an Instagram live on Tuesday.
