Actor Vidya Sinha, Born In 1947, Breathes Her Last On This Independence Day
Mumbai: Actress Vidya Sinha died on Thursday when the country was celebrating its Independence Day. Ironically, she was born in 1947 when the country got its independence.
Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Vidya entertained her fans with many memorable performances, which still remain etched in the minds of movie lovers.
Here are some of the memorable roles that fetched her stardom in Bollywood and made her a household name in middle-class India:
Prabha in Chhoti Si Baat (1976): Its a story of a young office girl whose innocence and looks of the girl next door endear her to one and all. It was perhaps one of the most coveted roles in her career. She starred opposite Amol Palekar and Asrani.
Sharda in Pati, Patni Aur Woh (1978): She was cast opposite Sanjeev Kumar in this B R Chopra movie where she matched Kumar’s acting prowess with aplomb. Her character was laced with humour yet she executed it with all sensibilities.
Deepa in Rajnigandha (1974): The film was directed by Basu Chatterjee, whom she considered her mentor. The film’s rerun value still remains high whenever it is aired on TV. The credit goes to her flawless performance and her strong presence in the film, matching terrific actors like Amol Palekar and Dinesh Thakur step by step.
