Mumbai: Alia Bhatt, during the launch of her upcoming production ‘Don’t Be Shy’ on Thursday, indulged in a light-hearted banter with filmmaker Karan Johar and revealed that her new venture aims to launch outsiders, unlike the latter who is known for introducing star kids.
Interestingly, Alia herself was launched in Bollywood by Karan with his 2012 movie ‘Student of the Year’.
Praising Alia for mastering the art of producing films, Karan said he is proud of her.
During the Prime Video Play slate event, Karan told Alia, “You’ve truly mastered the art of being a season producer already, Alia because your answers seem beautifully independent of my questions for some reason”.
Alia replied, “Yes Karan, because there is
a way to launch actors”.
KJo quipped, “And clearly I wouldn’t know that, would I? I’ve never done something like that”, while referring to how he launched Alia with his film.
The actress then said, “Well, what can I say? We’ve learnt from the best. And the best have always taught us that there is a timing for everything”.
KJo asked, “I have a very important question to ask you. It’s crucial and critical and it’s not on a script. Are they outsiders?”
Alia replied, “Yes”.
Lauding her, Karan said, “I’m so proud of you”.
Jointly produced by Eternal Sunshine Production and Chalkboard Entertainment, the upcoming film ‘Don’t Be Shy’, revolves around a 20-year-old girl Shyamili ‘Shy’ Das, who believes she has complete clarity about her goals and future, until her carefully planned life takes an unexpected turn, sending everything spiralling out of her control.
Alia is currently prepping for her upcoming female-led spy thriller ‘Alpha’, co-starring Sharvari.
Alia also has Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Love and War’ in pipeline, which also features Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in the lead.
