Mumbai: Actress Rhea Chakraborty seems to be controversy’s favourite child.
Out on bail after being arrested in 2020 by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) following boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Rhea has landed in legal trouble again.
Rhea, along with popular comedian Bharti Singh, Harsh Limbachiyaa and other social media influencers, have been summoned by Delhi Police in an alleged Rs 500-crore scam.
Delhi Police have been investigating the case since they received complaints from around 500 people, who invested money in a mobile application called HIBOX.
The app, which promised high returns to the investors, was launched in February 2024 and promoted by Rhea, Bharti, Harsh and 20 social media influencers.
The complainants alleged that they gained confidence in the app and invested money after viewing promotional videos of these celebrities.
The prime suspect, 30-year-old Sivaram from Chennai, has been arrested and Rs 18 crore has been recovered from four of his bank accounts.
The celebrities and influencers will now be questioned to ascertain what role they had in the case.
Besides Rhea, Bharti and Harsh, notices have been sent to other influencers namely Abhishek Malhan, Elvish Yadav, Lakshay Choudhary, Purav Jha, Saurav Joshi, Adarsh Singh, Amit,and Dilraj Singh Rawat.
