Berhampur: At least four persons, including an Additional Superintendent of Police, were seriously injured as the car they were travelling overturned after hitting a roadside tree at a village in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Friday.
As per information, the mishap took place at Sualipalli village under the jurisdiction of Bhanjanagar police station in Ganjam district in the wee hours.
The accident occurred when Additional SP Ranjan Kumar Dey was returning to Bhanjanagar from Cuttack with his family.
Apart from the Additional SP, his wife, mother-in-law, and driver of the car sustained grievous injuries in the accident.
Local residents broke the car’s window to rescue the injured and rushed them to the Bhanjanagar hospital. The four were later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for further treatment.
While the cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, the police are investigating the incident.
