Bhubaneswar: The Capital Hospital here will soon have an Advanced Cardiac Unit, which will facilitate heart operation, open heart surgery and complex angiography in the government run hospital.
“The unit will start functioning once the operation theatre is constructed. A number of specialists will also join the unit to provide the best treatment. A high-level meeting will be soon convened to expedite the process,” said Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das on Wednesday after visiting the hospital with HOD of Cardiology department of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences in Bangalore, Prabhat Kumar Dash.
The state-run hospital was set up in 1954 and caters to 70,000 indoor and 10 lakh outdoor patients from Bhubaneswar and its neighbouring districts of Cuttack, Nayagarh, Puri and Khurda, every day.
According to hospital authorities, more than 100 patients visit the cardiology outdoor on daily basis for consultation.
