Bengaluru: After two days of high-voltage drama and confusion, Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala finally called BJP to form the next government.
The single largest party was invited by the Governor, a former BJP MLA and a Minister in Narendra Modi Government in Gujarat.
BJP Chief Ministerial candidate B S Yeddyuruppa will be taking oath on Thursday morning at 9:30 am.
The saffron paty has been given 15-day time to prove its majority in the Assembly.
Interestingly, the BJP Karnataka Twitter handle had posted about the decision even before the official communique from the Raj Bhawan, and later deleted it. They tweeted it back again after the official confirmation.
The decision comes after BJP and Congress-JD(S) met the Governor on Wednesday morning.
While the BJP has 104 seats, Congress and JD(S) combine have 116 seats. A total of 112 seats are required for majority.
Meanwhile, JD(S)’ HD Kumaraswamy had alleged that BJP had offered Rs 100 crore bribe to his MPs.
