Bhubaneswar: Bringing glory to Odisha, adventurous mountaineer Sachin Behera of Nuapada district unfurled the National Flag at a height of 12,500 ft on January 24 on Himalayas’ Dayara Bugyal.
20-year-old Sachin is one of 23 adventurous mountaineers of Odisha who are on Dayara Bugyal trek in the Himalayas. He is a member of the talent hunting organisation Kalinga Daredevils that organised the trekking event which commenced on January 20.
Sachin is the son of Laxmi Prasad Behera and Arati Behera of Lakra village under Boden block of Nuapada district.
Notably, Sachin had set a world record for striking an object with his knees, alternatively, for the most number of times (137) in a minute in 2019. He has also won several prizes in sprinting events, including a gold medal for 100 metre race in Chennai.
He is now pursuing Physiotherapy at a Bhubaneswar-based medical college.
