Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday unearthed a double-storey building, 17 high-value plots, bank deposits worth Rs 63.69 lakh and 326 gram gold during raids on Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of Angul’s Attamallick block Ramachandra Satpathy on charges of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
These apart, Rs 23.95 lakh cash was recovered from the house of his son-in-law, Dr Tapan Kumar Tripathy, who is serving as medical officer at Junagarh CHC in Kalahandi district. “Both are being interrogated to ascertain the source of money,” a Vigilance release said.
The double-storey residential building is located at ward 15 in Gayatri Nagar area of Dhenkanal. Among the 17 plots, one is at Barang in Cuttack and the rest in Dhenkanal town. Measurement and valuation of the building andplots are being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing, it further stated.
Besides 326 gram gold ornaments worth around Rs 28 lakh and bank deposits worth Rs 63.69 lakh, 2 four-wheelers and as many two-wheelers were also seized.
The simultaneous house searches were conducted by teams led by 7 DSPs, 15 inspectors, and other supporting staff on the strength of the search warrants issued by Special Vigilance Judge, Cuttack, at 8 places in Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, and Kalahandi districts.
1. Residential house of Satpathy at Ward No.15, Plot no.12, Gayatri Nagar, Dhenkanal.
2. Government quarters at Attamallick town, Angul.
3. Office room of Satpathy at Panchayat Samiti Office, Attamallick, Angul.
4. Paternal house at Banasingh, Dhenkanal.
5. Residential house of his in-law at Junagarh, Kalahandi.
6.House of his in-law at Karamula village, Dhenkanal.
7. Residential house of another in-law at Bhawanipatna, Kalahandi.
8. Structure built over a plot at Bachhipur, Trisulia, Barang, Cuttack.
