Mumbai: Having extended his support to Rajpal Yadav after the latter was allegedly humiliated at an awards show, reports suggest that Salman Khan has signed the actor-comedian for his upcoming film with Dil Raju.
The superstar, who is currently busy shooting for ‘Maatrubhumi’, had earlier announced a new project with producer Dil Raju. The yet-untitled film will be directed by Vamshi Paidipally and feature Nayanthara as the female lead.
Salman, known for his supportive nature, took to social media to back Rajpal.
The actor had been at the centre of controversy after senior journalist Saurabh Dwivedi, who was hosting an awards show alongside Zakir Khan, made a remark referencing Yadav’s cheque bounce case.
The clip quickly went viral, drawing criticism from netizens over its insensitive tone.
Salman also voiced his support, highlighting Rajpal’s decades-long contribution to cinema.
Now, according to a Bollywood Hungama report, Salman has signed Rajpal for a key role in his upcoming film with Dil Raju.
“Salman Khan has cast Rajpal Yadav to play a key role in this action-packed entertainer. Rajpal will be playing Salman Khan’s right hand in the film and will share a strong dynamic bond throughout the story. It’s one of the most important characters, and the casting has happened on merit. Salman is very fond of Rajpal and feels that he fits the bill to the T for his particular part,” a source was quoted as saying by the portal.
According to the report, Rajpal is expected to begin shooting for the film in May.
The duo previously shared screen space in popular films like ‘Partner’ and ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’.
In the upcoming project as well, Rajpal is likely to play a distinctive character, with his signature comic timing sure to entertain audiences.
An official announcement from the makers is awaited.
Recently, Salman shared the exciting update with fans on social media, writing, “Dil, Dimag, Jigar se from this April with @directorvamshi and #DilRaju.”
The film will reportedly go on floors on April 18.

Salman, in a detailed post, defended Rajpal and criticised efforts to reduce his career to a financial controversy.
“Rajpal bhai aap 30 yrs se kaam kar rahe ho aur hum sabne aapko repeat kiya hai baar baar kyunki aap apna kaam jante ho aur ek value laate ho ,kaam toh aapko bohot milega aur issi dollar rate pe milega aur milte rahega. Hakikat yeh hai. Aur yeh yaad rakhna ke kabhi kabhi flow mai kuch nikal aata hai, dena hi hai toh dimag mai rakho dil se kaam karo , dollar upar ho ya neeche kya farak padta hai dena toh India mai hi hai,” he wrote.
