Mumbai: After Madhuri Dixit faced backlash, her Toronto event organisers issued a clarification, stating that the actress was on time for the event, and the inconvenience was caused due to miscommunication by a local promoter.
On November 2, several concert goers took to social media to call out Madhuri for arriving 3 hours late for her show ‘Dil se.. Madhuri’ at Toronto’s Great Canadian Casino Resort.
The organisers were also slammed, and the event was labelled as the ‘worst ever’.
The National Promoter of the event, Atique Sheikh, explained at a press conference that it was a Fan Meet & Greet event, and not a concert.
He further noted that Madhuri was on time for the event, but as some fans were wrongly informed, there was a misunderstanding.
“Madhuri ji has always been professional and punctual. She arrived at 9:30 PM for her scheduled performance and went on stage between 9.45 pm and 10 pm, as planned,” Sheikh stated.
The organisers clarified that Indian Idol participants Shivangi Sharma and Tanmay Chaturvedi performed for the audiences from 7.30 pm to 9 pm, while Madhuri also attended a Meet and Greet session at 5.30 pm.
Madhuri is yet to comment on the controversy.
In her first social media post after the backlash, Madhuri thanked fans for the lovely first show, and announced the dates of her upcoming ‘meet and greet’ events during her tour.
Along with a poster of her upcoming event, Madhuri wrote, “Thank you Toronto for a lovely Meet and Greet and now looking forward to meeting my fans in New Jersey on 6th November. Boston on 7th November. Chicago on 8th November. Houston on 9th November. New York on 15th November. #Meet&Greet #usacanadatour.”
