Bhubaneswar: Odisha MP and BJP national vice-president Baijayant Panda will steer the party’s campaign for the 2026 Assam elections.
Along with him, the Lotus party has also appointed Jammu and Kashmir MLA Sunil Kumar Sharma and former Union Minister Darshana Ben Jardosh as co-incharge.
Similarly, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, has been appointed as election in-charge for Tamil Nadu with Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal and Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation Muralidhar Mohol as co-incharge.
The party said the appointments, which have come into immediate effect, reflect its focus on strengthening organisational leadership and ensuring effective coordination ahead of the Assembly elections in both states.
A five-time MP from Odisha’s Kendrapada, 61-year-old Baijayant had earlier led the party to victory in Delhi Assembly polls. He was the in-charge for the Delhi elections, in which the saffron party made a comeback to power in the national capital after 27 years, securing 48 out of 70 seats.
