After ‘King’, Shah Rukh Khan And Atlee Set For ‘Jawan 2’; South Star To Play Baddie: Report

Mumbai: After wrapping up ‘King’, Shah Rukh Khan is reportedly gearing up to reunite with director Atlee for the much-anticipated sequel to their blockbuster, ‘Jawan’.

As per reports, the filmmaker is planning to cast a leading South actor to play the main antagonist, raising excitement around what could be another high-octane pan-India spectacle.

In 2024, Shah Rukh made a strong comeback with ‘Pathaan’, which earned ₹1055 crore worldwide and followed it up with ‘Jawan’, which also crossed ₹1000 crore globally.

“A script and idea for Jawan 2 had been in the works for a while. A few weeks ago, the script was finalised. SRK will begin work on the film after completing King,” a source was quoted as saying by India Today.

“The team is looking to lock in an A-lister from the South as the villain,” the source added.

However, neither Atlee nor Shah Rukh has officially confirmed anything yet.

Directed by Atlee, ‘Jawan’ features Shah Rukh in a dual role, alongside Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra and Sunil Grover, with Deepika Padukone in a special appearance. It was Atlee’s first Hindi film as a director.

The story follows Azad, a police officer played by Shah Rukh, who fights against corruption in different sectors like agriculture, healthcare and defence.

He leads a team of five women, all of whom have faced injustice, and works to get them justice.

The film received positive response from both critics and audiences and went on to earn around ₹1100 crore worldwide, making it one of India’s biggest hits.

At the 71st National Film Awards, it won two honours, including Best Actor for Shah Rukh and Best Female Playback Singer for Shilpa Rao for the song Chaleya.

This was Shah Rukh’s first National Award in a career of over 33 years.

Meanwhile, ‘King’, directed by Siddharth Anand, stars Shah Rukh along with Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan and Suhana Khan.

The film also features Saurabh Shukla, Raghav Juyal and Jaideep Ahlawat in supporting roles.

It marks Suhana Khan’s theatrical debut and is set to release in cinemas on December 24, 2026.
