Malkangiri: The district administration has finally made arrangements for providing a boat to the people to cross a river at Nerudipali area under Chitrakonda block.
The administration’s move came after a video showing two Anganwadi workers crossing the flooded river risking their lives to go to Sualipali and Nerudi villages for work went viral.
The two workers, Hemalata Sisa and Pramila Penel, had to tie dry pumpkin shells and empty pots to their waists to prevent them from being washed away while crossing the river.
Their plight moved industrialist and chairman of Mahindra Group Anand Mahindra to offer a boat for transport.
