Bhubaneswar: A day after the alleged death by suicide of a NEET aspirant, a diploma student of a private university in Odisha capital was found dead in his hostel room on Friday.
The deceased, a second-year student of diploma in mining engineering, was a resident of Korba district in Chhattisgarh.
According to sources, his friends found the door of his hostel room locked from inside and informed the hostel superintendent when he did not respond to their calls. Police was informed and was found hanging from the ceiling fan when the door was opened.
“We have kept the body at Capital Hospital morgue. The postmortem will be conducted once his his parents arrive,” said IIC of Jatni police station Soumyakanta Baliarsingh told TOI.
Preliminary investigation revealed that students was worried about his academic performance since he was not interested in the course, which he was pursuing at the institute, the IIC added.
On Thursday, a Plus II student, who was preparing for medical entrance exam NEET at a private institute in Bhubaneswar, was found hanging in her hostel room at Patia in the city. An 18-year-old medical aspirant from Jharkhand, who was taking coaching from the same institute, was also found dead in his hostel room in August. On September 3, a third-year engineering student hailing from Assam allegedly died by suicide. Similarly, a first year B.tech student, who was studying in a private college here, ended his life on September 13.
