After Satya, RGV Started Doing A Lot Of Drama: Pankaj Tripathi

Mumbai: During a recent conversation with film critic Rajeev Masand, several Bollywood actors including Pankaj Tripathi, Rajkummar Rao, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Saif Ali Khan discussed Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Satya’.

While talking about Manoj Bajpayee’s death scene in ‘Satya’, Nawazuddin said: “The first time I was shocked by a death scene, it was Manoj Bajpayee in Satya. Because before that, the hero would deliver a long soliloquy as he died. It felt like such a hassle to die on screen. Please die quickly man, I have been watching the movie for so long. In Satya, the shot gets fired, and ‘wham!’ he goes to the floor. Now on to the next scene. The next scene started playing but my mind was still stuck on the previous one. Because for the first time in the history of Hindi movies, I saw a death sequence like this one which kept me thinking.”

Rajkummar Rao added, “And it was so sudden, the way Ramu sir executed it. No drama. No talking. Wham!”

But it was Pankaj Tripathi who left everyone in fits of laughter with his remark on RGV.

“Baad mein Ramu ji bahut drama karne lage,” said Tripathi, as the others broke into laughter.

Saif then quipped, “I was wondering who was going to say that. Pankaj ji is fab. But that was a badass film. Lovely movie.”

RGV, who is known for making critically-acclaimed movies such as Satya, Rangeela, and Shool, has recently changed track and has been making films like Climax, Naked, and Enter The Girl Dragon.

Written by Saurabh Shukla and Anurag Kashyap, Satya starred Manoj Bajpayee, Urmila Matondkar, and Shefali Shah in key roles.
