After Taking Charge, Odisha DGP Bansal Prays At Jagannath Temple In Puri After It Reopens
Puri: Odisha DGP Sunil Bansal along with his wife visited Puri on Monday and prayed at the Jagannath Temple here amid tight security. Bansal took charge as state DGP on December 31.
He was accompanied by ADG Radha Kishan Sharma, IG Narasingha Bhola and other senior police officials. Bansal was greeted by the SP here on his arrival. “It was a long pending wish of mine to visit Lord Jagannath and this has been fulfilled today,” the DGP told reporters here.
The DGP also reviewed the security arrangements and COVID safety protocols at the temple.
“I prayed for the blessings of Lord Jagannath for the welfare and prosperity of the people of Odisha,” Bansal said after his visit.
On policing, the DGP said, “The state government is laying stress on use of technology to check crime, and the police are going to enhance the use of technology for the same.”
Keeping in view the possible crowd surge at the temple, the Puri Jagannath Temple was closed on December 31, January 1 and 2.
It reopened its doors for all devotees after three days on January 3. Devotees can enter the temple for the darshan from 5:30 am to 9:30 pm on all days, barring Sundays.
Meanwhile, the district and police administration have made extensive arrangements so that the COVID protocols are strictly followed by the visitors.
