Mumbai: After tying the knot with Rashmika Mandanna last week, actor Vijay Deverakonda announced a scholarship scheme for Class IX and X students at his hometown in Telangana.
Newlyweds Vijay and Rashmika visited the groom’s hometown Thummanapeta on Monday for the house-warming ceremony of their new home.
During an interaction with fans who had gathered to catch a glimpse of the celebrity couple, the actor announced the scholarship scheme for students of classes IX and X across 44 government schools in the Achampet Division of Telangana through his charitable trust.
Vijay’s wife Rashmika greeted the decision gleefully, while his mother was seen beaming with pride.
The actor also promised people of his village that he will be visiting them regularly from now on.
As videos of the announcement started doing the rounds online, fans lauded the actor for his generosity.
A fan wrote, “I wouldn’t be surprised if VD becomes CM in the next 30 years.”
Another posted, “Hero in the true sense.”

After dating for several years, Rashmika and Vijay got married in Kodava and Telugu ceremonies in a resort in Udaipur in the presence of their near and dear ones on February 26.
The couple will be hosting a grand reception for their industry friends on March 4 in Hyderabad.
On the work front, Rashmika and Vijay will be seen together in the upcoming film ‘Ranabaali’. Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, the film is slated to be released in theatres on September 11.
