Cuttack: Anurag Kanojia, a U-19 player, was dropped from the cricket squad on Thursday for alleged age manipulation.
The officials of Odisha Cricket Association (OCA)confirmed that the decision was taken after it found discrepancies in the date of birth in the certificates and documents submitted by him. The matter came to light when the association compared the birth certificate provided by Anurag earlier and that of this year.
Anurag had also allegedly submitted a false affidavit regarding his age.
Sources in the OCA hinted that he might have face one or two years of ban.
The incident has come as an embarrassment for OCA as over 30 players in 2016 were found fudging their age proof documents and certificates.
The BCCI had also dropped seven women players and issued show-cause notices to four senior players from Odisha in connection with age fudging controversy.
