Munger (Bihar): Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan made a sensational claim during a public rally in Bihar’s Munger on Friday, alleging that there is a conspiracy to blow him up with a bomb.
Paswan hurled several barbs at his estranged uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras, and Lalu Prasad’s RJD with which Pashupati has aligned, without mentioning anyone by name.
Addressing supporters as part of his ongoing ‘Bihar First, Bihari First’ campaign, Paswan declared, “They are conspiring to blow me up with a bomb. But I am not afraid. I am the son of a lion. These threats will not deter me.”
Paswan’s statement comes days after he reportedly received death threats via social media. An anonymous user had allegedly sent him a threatening message on Instagram, prompting his team to file a complaint with Patna Cyber Police. A First Information Report (FIR) was registered, and one person has since been arrested in connection with the threat. The accused’s phone and social media activity are under investigation.
In his speech, Paswan appeared undeterred, using the alleged threat to project his image as a fearless leader. “They cannot stop me from speaking for the youth, from demanding better governance, and from fighting for Bihar’s future,” he said.
Bihar politics is heating up, with Assembly elections due around October-November.
Earlier this week, Paswan slammed the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government over a spate of violent crimes, claiming that “the morale of criminals is sky-high.”
Paswan’s campaign aims to consolidate support among youth and first-time voters. His rhetoric around safety, corruption, and political victimisation is being seen as a strategy to galvanise his base amid rising political tensions in the state.
Authorities are yet to confirm whether the alleged bomb plot extends beyond the online threat.
“I will go to every corner of Bihar and fight for its people. I will not be silenced,” announced Paswan.
