Ahead Of ODI World Cup, ‘Khalistan Zindabad’ Surfaces In Host City Dharamsala

Dharamsala: At a time when Khalistani supporters have been raising their voices in India and on foreign soil, there was disturbing news ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup.

‘Khalistan Zindabad’ slogans were found painted on a wall of the Jal Shakti department building in Dharamsala, one of the World Cup venues, PTI reported.

Superintendent of Police, Kangra, Shalini Agnihotri said today they were informed that some mischievous elements spray-painted the slogans.

The SP informed that a police team reached the spot and got the wall repainted.

A police investigation has been launched as to how the slogans were painted. Extensive CCTV footage from the area is being scanned to ascertain the ‘culprits’.

A case has been registered against unknown persons.

Officials said the incident was a cause for concern as Dharamsala is scheduled to stage five league stage matches in October at the picturesque HPCA Stadium, with the first one being on October 7 between Afghanistan and Bangladesh – from 10.30 am.

The other games at Dharamsala are as follows:

October 22 — India vs New Zealand (2 pm)
