Sundargarh: An ailing female elephant succumbed to illness on Sunday night at Raipur forest under Bonai forest division in Sundargarh district.
On being informed, the forest officials rushed to the spot and sent the carcass for postmortem on Monday morning.
The four-year-old elephant was spotted ill and undergoing treatment, sources said, adding that the exact cause behind the death is yet to be ascertained.
