Ailing Woman Jumps To Death From Hospital Building In Odisha’s Rayagada

Rayagada: A woman patient at the district headquarters hospital (DHH) here committed suicide by jumping off the third floor early on Saturday.

Additional District Medical Officer (ADMO) Baradakanta Mishra identified the deceased as Rajani Meleka (28). She lived at Tumbiguda village under Sadar Police limits.

The ADMO said Rajani was admitted to the hospital’s medicine ward with sores in her mouth on July 7.

The woman left her bed (no-35) to go to the toilet around 4 am. She then broke the skylight of the toilet and jumped to her death.

Later, police and forensic experts went to the hospital for investigation. They sent the body for post mortem.

IIC of Town Police Station Rashmi Ranjan Pradhan said the ailing woman might have committed suicide due to severe mental stress.
