Mumbai/New Delhi: A controversy has erupted around the sequel of Dhurandhar after a spokesperson of the All India Majlis‑e‑Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) called for banning the film. He alleged it to be a propaganda film that endorses hatred.
Dhurandhar 2 has been directed by Aditya Dhar and features Ranveer Singh. According to reports, the AIMIM spokesperson accused the filmmakers of spreading divisive narratives. The spokesperson, according to reports, described it as an attempt to influence people’s opinion. The spokesperson, in an interview to ANI, said such films were made by cheap people for the sake of financial gains.
The remarks add turns the spotlight on whether cinema should remain purely a medium of entertainment or whether it should also put forth political ideologies.
