Bhubaneswar: AIPH University in Odisha capital organised a cycle rally, ‘Cycle-A-Thon’, to promote awareness about ‘Save Soil’ movement on Sunday.
Vice Chancellor of the University Prof Dr AP Dash flagged off the Cycle-A-Thon at Damana Square in the morning. Starting from Damana Square, they cycled to Raghunathpur and returned to the starting point to complete the Cycle-A-Thon. The cyclists also displayed messages on placards throughout their ride to sensitise the public on the global subject.
The event was organised by AIPHU in collaboration with Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL), while the cycles were provided by “Mo Cycle” initiative of the state government.
The ‘Save Soil’ movement is initiated and promoted globally by Sadhguru to draw attention towards soil crisis and help take measures to improve soil health. “Air, water, soil, environment and climate are serious drivers of public health. Some people say the third world war will be fought for water. To me, the next world war will be for soil. It is the duty of all citizens to take serious action, especially younger generation that may face the catastrophic impact of infertile soil,” said Prof Pinaki Panigrahi, president, Board of Governors, AIPH University, Bhubaneswar and Professor at Georgetown University, USA, in a message.
Prof Dash called upon the students and youth to support every action to save the soil.
