[Watch] Air India Flight Breaks Into 2 After Crashlanding In Kozhikode; At Least 3 Dead

Kozhikode: An Air India flight, with over 185 passengers and four crew members on board, skidded off the runway at the airport here on Friday evening and crashlanded, breaking into two pieces.

Three people, including the pilot, have died, according to Kerala Minister KT Jaleel. All passengers have been evacuated.

According to Kerala Police, the Dubai-Kozhikode flight IX-1344 overshot the Karipur table-top airport while landing, and fell into a 35-feet deep gorge, at around 8 pm. According to eyewitnesses, the aircraft ‘broke open’ on crashlanding and split into two pieces.

The incident took place amid very heavy rainfall.

Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja said the injured people have been rushed to hospitals in Kozhikode and Malappuram, adding that some were in a critical state, especially those at the Kozhikode Medical College.
